For the past few years, we have participated in Abundant Life’s Christmas Store. Abundant Life holds a tutoring program throughout the year that allows students to earn “blue bucks” to purchase Christmas gifts at the end of the year. So, each November, we set up a Christmas tree and join together as a congregation to supply those gifts.
However, COVID-19 has changed their plans and the Christmas Store isn’t happening this year. But the tree’s still up in the foyer and we’re still looking for ways to serve our community! This year we’re working with Greene Alliance to sponsor families in Greene County who may not otherwise be able to afford Christmas gifts. The church has agreed to sponsor 3 families for Christmas this year. Will you help us collect gifts for them?
There are two ways you can sign-up:
1. If you’re coming to church in person, just grab one of the ornaments off the tree in the foyer. When you bring your gift back to the church, please bring the ornament back with it. That’ll help us match the gift to its assigned family.
2. If you’re still streaming service from home, you can select an item from the online sign-up sheet. After you pick up your gift, you can drop it off at the church anytime during the week. If you want to coordinate a time to do it, just email us at the office and we’ll set that up.
Whichever sign-up method you choose, please leave your gift unwrapped and deliver it to the church by the morning of December 6th.
If you’d like to help distribute these gifts to families, you can volunteer with Greene Alliance on December 9th between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Please contact Karel Seger or email the office if you’d like to volunteer.
We’ve talked a lot about how things are different this year but, with Christmas around the corner, it’s good to remember that some things are still the same. Grace Community Church is still a church that doesn’t exist for ourselves. As Christians, we’re still devoted to showing God’s love to our community. Will you help us this Christmas?
