Jesus, our hearts are full of sinful thoughts, worries, and shame that we would prefer to conceal rather than bring honestly before You. Forgive us for the ways we have chosen dishonesty over truth, in order to protect ourselves, impress others, and escape the pain of change. Help us to live in the light of Your cleansing grace.  

The words of the gospel for those who repent and believe:

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  (I John 1:8-9)
