Word of the Week: Visible
On Sunday we started a new sermon series in 1 Thessalonians, considering how we’re supposed to live as Christians while we wait for Jesus to return and make all things new. We began with the very beginning of the book, 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10, and unpacked the ways our life can make our faith visible.
When we receive Jesus Christ in faith, he sends the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts and the Spirit does a transforming work in us. He forms virtue in us, making us more and more like Jesus. He gives us a supernatural joy in the face of suffering. He changes us, as we put off our old habits of sin and put on new habits of righteousness. He works inside of us and those changes spill over into the way we live.
So, as you’re going about your week, where can you see the Holy Spirit at work? If you can’t think of anything, ask someone who knows you well. I’m sure they notice something you don’t! What are some tangible ways that you can display your faith to an onlooking world?
