Word of the Week: Monday
We’ve talked around the office this morning about how wonderful Easter was here at Grace. It was such a joy to celebrate with so many of you, joining together in one loud voice that Jesus Christ is risen and that we too will rise with him. Hallelujah!
But here’s the thing about Easter Sunday – Monday follows just behind it. We come down from the heights of our resurrection celebration, only to find ourselves mired in the troubles and clutter of our normal weekly rhythms. Are you feeling it yet? Sunday wasn’t that long ago and yet it already feels like it was ages ago. Brothers and sisters, the risen Christ meets us in these places too.
My encouragement to you is simple: Don’t let Easter go. As you go on with your week, don’t put the resurrection away for next spring. Don’t even put it away until next Sunday. Keep it ever before your eyes that Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life. He’s the one who defeated death and restores us to the fullness of life. That’s true on Easter Sunday, it’s true as you read this blog, and it will remain true forever more.
Friends, Jesus didn’t get back in the grave. He’s still alive today and that means your hope lives with him too. Easter isn’t good news that comes once a year. It’s good news for every day – even Mondays.
