Word of the Week: Deeper
This Sunday we’re starting a new sermon series on the Ten Commandments. What relevance do these old covenant laws have for new covenant believers? It turns out, a lot! The Ten Commandments offer a treasure trove of application when we read them in light of the cross – so that’s what we’re going to do.
But this post isn’t really a teaser for the sermon series; it’s intended for something else. Each summer, our small groups typically take a break until the fall. Some of us use that break to travel and see family and friends. Some of our leaders appreciate the rest that comes with not having to prepare for the group discussion. But some of us are still left wanting more. So, this summer we’re going to have a summer small group here at the church. Bill and Amanda Freels are going to lead a discussion group on our summer sermon series.
New to our church and looking to meet people? This group is for you. Small groups are the most effective way to connect with people beyond Sunday and get to know them.
Have extra time this summer to invest in your faith? This group is for you. A sermon can only contain so much. There’s immense value in reading and applying the Scriptures in discussion with other believers.
Interested in a small group but traveling this summer? This group is for you. Because of the way that the Ten Commandments work, you can jump in and out of the discussion without feeling totally lost. You can participate even if you know you can’t attend all ten weeks.
Like the idea of a small group, but apprehensive about another weekly commitment? This group is for you. This group only meets for ten weeks. You can do that, can’t you?
If you want to dig a little deeper and know Jesus better, this group is for you. I hope you’ll give it some consideration as we all seek to make the most of this summer. Send me an email if you are interested in participating.
