Word of the Week: Mystery

In the middle of a sermon series on the greatness and goodness of God, I want to think about a mystery. God is great, God is good, and the world seems a complete mess. I believe all three of those assertions. With all I am!  I am refreshed by considering God’s greatness and goodness. I find myself lamenting the condition of things, my own heart being a part of that lament sometimes. I know of two deaths of men younger than I that families in our church are mourning. There are less dramatic examples of the mess I experience almost daily.Human frailty. Then I hear of an emerging Christian leader who may well be dying of cancer.

That seems pretty messed up to me. I thought God had great plans for Nabeel Qureshi. God is great, and God is good, and the world is a mess. We will think about this more together this weekend.  How do we praise him? Ponder it. Reflect upon it.
