Word of the Week

Word of the Week: Forgiveness

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful words ever. In a world where we face our own frailties every day, to experience forgiveness is one of the most beautiful things we can enjoy. Hearing the gospel words of forgiveness refreshes us and renews our communion with God. Hearing another human say in earnest, “I forgive you,” and know that we are restored is like a cool fresh wind on a beautiful fall day. All is new again. There is hope. There are possibilities that had been previously ruled out.

We declare often at GCC these words: “I believe in the Holy Spirit….the forgiveness of sins…”  It’s not just talking about our past sins, but the ones we have recently committed. Have you enjoyed the forgiveness of sins recently? Have you offered grace and forgiveness to another in the pattern of life our Lord Jesus taught us? I finish with David’s words:

When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the LORD." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.  (Ps. 32:3-5 NLT)

See you Sunday,

Don
