Word of the Week: Abundant
We committed a decorating blunder by setting up a Christmas tree in the church foyer weeks before Thanksgiving – but we did it for a good cause! That makes it okay, right? That tree was part of our partnership with Charlottesville Abundant Life Ministries (CALM) and served as the hub for our holiday collection efforts. Abundant Life is a ministry to families on Prospect Avenue in downtown Charlottesville. Each year they hold a Christmas store for students who participated in their tutoring program, which is where this annual collection comes in.
We sent the boxes off last week and all I can say is, “Wow!” Our church collected 67 items for Abundant Life this year. What made the list?
- Hats
- Loungewear
- Slippers
- Tools
- DVDs
- Jewelry
- Make-up
- Scarves
- Action Figures
- Books
- Games
- Coffee and Cocoa
- Gift Cards
- Candles
- Baby Toys
- Sports Equipment
- Toy Cars
- Play-Doh
- Stuffed Animals
- Art Supplies
Thank you all for your generosity! Grace Community Church is a church that doesn’t exist for ourselves. As God has blessed us, we want to be a blessing to others. This Christmas collection is just one way of living that out. We have the chance to support a local ministry making an impact in our community. Thank you to everyone who participated!
